Neele and VAT Logistics merge to form Neele-Vat Logistics
Two Rotterdam family businesses join forces
Rotterdam, 1 October – Logistics service providers Neele-Vat Logistics and VAT Logistics are to merge on an equal basis. Both Rotterdam family businesses are joining forces to step forward into the future under the new name Neele-Vat Logistics. Neele-Vat Logistics is a perfectly healthy family business that has over 500 members of staff, 20 branches in 9 different countries and a turnover of 230 million euros per annum. The proposed merger will be submitted to the Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) in October for approval.
Neele-Vat Logistics’ and VAT Logistics’ activities complement each other perfectly. As an all-round logistics service provider, the new Neele-Vat Logistics will be able to provide its customers with an even better and wider service. The European transport and distribution networks are being further improved, both in terms of the number of destinations and frequencies. The increase in scale is also providing scope for the further development of sustainable transport solutions for customers.
The management board of Neele-Vat Logistics will be formed of Ron Neele (58), Cuno Vat (35) and others. As General Manager, Ron Neele will thereby manage the company as a whole. In this way, the the continuity of the family business for the longer term is guaranteed. The current CEO of VAT Logistics, Ruud Vat (63), will withdraw from day-to-day management when the merger takes effect. He will retain his affiliation with Neele-Vat Logistics, however, as well as being a member of the advisory board.
The joint-decision-making processes will be conducted carefully. In the event the ACM approves the merger, the new Neele-Vat Logistics wants to start straight away. The 500-plus members of staff at Neele-Vat Logistics are striving to provide personal logistics services that place the customer at the centre.
Ron Neele explains: “The new Neele-Vat Logistics will be able to demonstrate even more capability in a competitive market. The distinctive nature of a family business will continue to apply in that regard: quality, personal attention and flexibility.”
Ruud Vat explains: “The merger was born out of the strength of two strong family businesses. As Neele-Vat Logistics, we will be able to accelerate both of our growth ambitions.”
